Abstract
The continuum-continuum interference in resonant Auger decay spectra of ultrafast dissociating core-excited HCl was experimentally studied. This effect showed up as a conversion of an atomic peak into a negative spectral contribution, when detuning the excitation energy from the maximum of the resonance. The properties of the observed phenomenon were described using resonant x-ray scattering theory.
