Abstract
To study the quenching effect and accuracy of free bending and contact bending, hot bending for ultra high strength boron steel parts with U shape was simulated with ABAQUS software. It can be concluded that the contact bending improves the quenching effect at the bottom of parts, and the accuracy of contact bending is better than that of free bending for the parts. The springback in contact bending is reduced with the increasing blank holding force. Results of simulation are in good agreement with those of experiments, which verifies the reliability of FEM model.
