Abstract

The physical and mathematical models for the dynamic process in the weld pool are established when the TC4 alloy sheet (5 mm thick) is welded by the hollowed cathode arc in vacuum (HCVAW). Using these models, a numerical simulation is made to study the effect of the process parameters such as welding velocity and welding current on the temperature-field, flow-field and weld form. The results of the simulation are consistent with the experimental results.
