Abstract

Aiming to study the stray losses and temperature distribution of power transformer ascending flange, a 1:1 test model is built, and the corresponding three-dimensional (3D) finite-element analysis (FEA) model is established. Then the influence of shielding on stray losses distribution is simulated by surface impedance method, and the 4mm copper shielding is selected as the optimized one. Besides, a mixed steel tank lid structure is proposed to limit the maximum loss density in the tank lid. Finally, the temperature field of ascending flange based on magneto-thermal coupling method is simulated, which can provide an effective guidance for allowable lead current and the related optimization.
