Abstract
The thrust force per volume is one of the key performances to evaluate the linear electromagnetic thruster. A novel hybrid-magnet-circuit multiple-coupling linear thruster is presented. Compared with the conventional hybrid type linear thruster, the additional exciting coil producing the MMF in the same direction of the PM (permanent magnet) MMF can control and compensate the MMF in this direction. It increases the thrust force per volume. The structure and working principle of the novel linear thruster are expatiated on, and the mathematical model of this linear thruster is developed according to the magnet network analysis. The theoretic analysis shows that the novel linear thruster can provide bigger thrust force per volume than conventional one. The prototype linear thruster is developed. And the contrastable experiment with the conventional linear thruster of same volume proves the conclusion that the thrust force of the novel linear thruster is bigger than the conventional hybrid type linear thruster with the same volume and material.
