Abstract
Hybrid power filter has been proved to be a useful approach to eliminating current harmonics caused by nonlinear loads. Nowadays, there are various harmonic source nonlinear loads. This paper proposes a novel shunt hybrid power filter to attenuate current harmonics due to three-phase rectifier bridge loads, which are most popular in industry use. A novel design method for the passive power filter is proposed to minimize the rating of the active power filter. Furthermore, a combined controller is designed according to the novel hybrid topology, which contributes to both filtering characteristics and system stability. The stability of the combined controller is analyzed in the time and frequency domain in detail. The validity and effectiveness of the system have been verified by simulation and experimental results.
