Abstract

The isothermal forging process of TiAl compressor blade was optimized by numerical simulation. The results show that the forging defect can be eliminated by modifying preform dimension. In addition, the offsetting force can be reduced by optimizing the shape of preform. Friction condition has obvious effect on the forging load and the reasonable friction coefficient is in the range of 0∼0.04. The reasonable thickness of flash is 1mm for the TiAl blade. Actual forging experiment was carried out based on the optimized process. TiAl compressor blade without defects was achieved and good mechanical properties can be achieved due to obvious refinement of the microstructure.
