Abstract

The third order optical nonlinearity is anisotropic and dichroic in zinc-blende semiconductors. The polarization state and the polarization orientation are various for a polarized input in them. In this paper, we derive the nonlinear propagation equations for which a linearly polarized optical wave propagates in zinc-blende semiconductors. Using these equations, characteristic of polarization state evolution is analyzed.
