Abstract

An analytical model could be very useful in the design and analysis of electromagnetic devices. In this paper, a nonlinear analytical model of a hybrid-excitation double-sided linear eddy-current brake is presented. The nonlinear analytical model takes into account leakage flux, higher harmonics, core saturation, and the actual path of eddy currents in the secondary conductor. Therefore, as compared with the conventional analytical model, the accuracy of the nonlinear analytical model is observably improved. Finally, the finite element analysis is employed to confirm the validity of the nonlinear analytical model.
