Abstract

To study the aseismic behavior of multi-story block building with cavity walls in the North cold area, a three-lines restoring-force model was used with the rigidity degeneration effects, and the parameters of skeleton curve were adopted from the restoring-force experimental data of cavity wall with constructional columns in the inner-layer. The point of flexion can be located and the rigidity matrix can be amended using this program. A seven-story typical structure with cavity wall to be built in a 7 degree seismic intensity area is analysed using this program under several types of seismic waves. It is concluded that the building performs well under seismic action and accords with the requirement of code for seismic design of building structures perform well under frequently occurred earthquake, and does not collapse under seldom occurred earthquake, and so, this kind of structure can be built in a 7-degree seismic intensity area.
