Abstract

Finite element modeling has become an important tool for predicting the membrane wrinkling at present. In this paper, non-linear buckling analysis of the membrane under shearing loads is performed by incorporating the ANSYS SHELL63 element. The initial imperfections are modeled according to the modes of eigenvalue buckling analysis. The wrinkling wavelength and amplitude are obtained by utilizing the non-linear FE model. The results of the FEA show good agreement with the analytical solution.
