Abstract

Two new heterotrophic nitrifying bacteria, wgy5 and wgy33, were isolated from a bio-ceramic reactor. With the aid of sequencing the 16SrDNA and physiological and biochemical identification, they were proved to belong to Pseudomonas sp. and uncultured Acinetobacter sp., respectively. Then the phylogenic tree was established. Sodium acetate and ammonium chloride were used as carbon and nitrogen sources to investigate nitrification characteristics of the two new bacteria. After 12-day aerobic culture, the removal rates of the NH4-N by wgy5 and wgy33 were 82.86% and 78.30% respectively, and the removal rates of the total concentration of nitrogen were 65.50% and 61.06%. And the two new bacteria have nitrification function of producing NO2-N. After 12-day aerobic culture, the removal rates of the NO2-N by wgy5 and wgy33 were 82.20% and 80.36% in nitrosifying culture medium, and the removal rates of the NO3-N were 84.10% and 90.12% in nitrifying culture medium.
