Abstract

Multiple scale oxide bifilm defects have been a fatal problem recent years for high-qualitively casting large size and complex aerospace components of varied advanced materials including the aluminum, magnesium, copper alloys. This talk will introduce the most recent development of oxide bifilm studies and new viewpoints we achieved in the past years on different materials system, on the basis of reviewing the existing understandings of the oxide bifilm defects in a full-screen, so prompting the investigation of such an old but emergent important casting defects.
