New-type ultrasonic motor depending on the three-dimensional motion of projections

Abstract

Compared with conventional ultrasonic motor, the new-type ultrasonic motor has the following better characteristics: no bearings, need no lubrication, higher output torque (1.5-2 times than that of the conventional), higher stability with lower noise. The fundamental principle of the new-type motor was analyzed theoretically. A real experimental motor of new-type was fabricated and its parameters are s follows: diameter=18mm, height=10mm, weight=17g, output torque=0.05N·m, speed=20-160r/m. Finally, the operation characteristics of prototypes were measured.
