Abstract
Some research developments of semi-solid forming technology in recent ten years are commented, which included theology and plastic deformation, non-dendritic mechanism of preparing billets (or slurry) and some problems of industrial application. The authors think that our country's study on semi-solid forming technology is synchronous to that of foreign country, but our industrial application is delayed. So it is important to strengthen the research on the preparation of billets, make the semi-solid forming technology develop with high efficiency, high quality and low cost, strengthen the cooperation of university, research institute and factory, organize some researchers to solve the bottleneck problems that hinder the technology's application, introduce foreign technologies and equipments and let more manufacturers enter in this activity to promote our country's development in the semi-solid processing field.
