Abstract

According to suggested model each elementary poly-π-conjugated bond chain surrounded by doping ions in a conductive polymer (CP) might be regarded as a microelectrode with own double electric layer (DEL). The nature of current-producing processes in CP is mainly associated with the charging-discharging of the DEL capacity, which is abnormally high (300...850 F/g) in such systems. The proposed model gives a good fit to electrode behavior in the practically important potential range (0...+0.6 V against SHE).
