Abstract

To deal with the limitations of current computer aided modular fixture design, a modular fixture assembly design system based on Virtual Reality (VR) was presented. The function model and architecture of proposed system were put forward, and key technologies such as modular fixture virtual assembly model and assembly placement approach of fixture element in Virtual Environment (VE) were discussed and implemented. A multi-view-based modular fixture assembly model was proposed, which was used for information representation and management. It was compliant to the principles of VE and solved the reuse problem of element model. A fuzzy comprehensive judgment method based methodology of geometric constraint recognition was presented, which could evaluate and define most feasible assembly relationships to match the operation intents of the user. Finally, the prototype system was illustrated by a case study.
