Abstract

A Maxwell model is presented to describe the hysteresis in a piezoelectric actuator. The effect of the number of elements is studied and both of the forward and inverse algorithms are presented. Using the inverse Maxwell model, hysteresis is compensated for and an almost linear performance is obtained. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm and show that hysteresis nonlinearity reduces from 13.8 to 0.4%.
