Microstructure evolution and deformation mechanism of Ti-22Al-25 Nb alloy under current-assisted compression

Abstract

The effects of current on the flow behavior of Ti-22Al-25 Nb alloy were investigated during current-assisted hot compression. The yield strength dropped 10–15 % after adding the current. The current affected the flow softening by inducing twins to activate, improving dislocation motion, and arranging the dislocations paralleling the flow direction of electrons. It is a promising processing technology to improve deformability.
