Microstructure and mechanical behaviour of sub-micro particulate-reinforced Al matrix composites

Abstract

The microstructure and mechanical behavior of sub-micro particulate-reinforced Al matrix composites was discussed. The fracture surface of sub-micro particulate reinforced composite was found to be rough and uneven with many fine dimples in the matrix, indicating ductile fracture features. The results showed low dislocation density in the matrix of sub-micro Al2O3p/Al composites (Vf = 40%).
