Abstract
Densified TiC-30wt%Fe cermet was produced by self-propagating high temperature synthesis and pseudo-hot isostatic pressing (SHS/PHIP). The composition and microstructure of the product were analyzed. A formation mechanism for the cermet made by HSS/PHIP was proposed. The thin diffused layer was found between Fe and TiC.
