Micro injection molding of micro-structured parts and micro parts

Abstract

A micro injection mold was designed and manufactured. Micro silicon mold with micro runner and gate were made by using photoetching and ionetching. PP (polypropylene) was used as material in this micro injection molding experiment. Micro-structured parts and micro parts were made by micro injection molding process. The least microstructure is the micro column with 50 μm diameter. The least isolated micro parts are the micro disks with 300 μm diameter and 300 μm thickness. Effect of injection pressure, mold temperature and pressure holding time on micro injection molding were analyzed. Temperature of mold is the most important factor of them, and the injection pressure and pressure holding time take the second place.
