Abstract

This paper presents micro controller-based electronic ballast for multiple HPS (high press sodium) lamps. The system is primarily configured with a power factor corrector (PFC), a half bridge high frequency inverter, and a micro controller. Lighting systems with this kind of ballast gain the merits of low system cost and more flexibility when compared with conventional systems. The reduction of lighting system cost becomes more meaningful with the growing of the lamp number. The description of the lighting system, practical analysis and experimental results are included in this paper.
