Abstract

Energy storage can effectively smooth the output of renewable energy sources and enhance the stability of the power grid. Scientific configuration of capacity size is the core issue in energy storage planning. To maximize the improvement of wind energy and energy storage station characteristics and enhance the overall system benefits, a capacity configuration model considering the improvement of station and energy storage characteristics has been proposed. Initially, the model objective function is established based on criteria such as the peak-to-valley difference rate of renewable energy, the charging and discharging frequency of energy storage and investment costs. Subsequently, model constraints are developed, taking into account system power balance, real-time power of energy storage and remaining energy limits. Finally, a case study analysis is conducted using data from the IEEE 39-bus system and a region in Ningxia to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method and provide a targeted capacity configuration scheme.
