Abstract
Overlap structure plays a vital role in mechanical properties of cord-rubber composite, which directly affects safety performances of rubber products. However, the mechanical properties and failure mechanism of the overlap structure of the cord-rubber composite are still not clear. In this work, the experiment and simulation results for the mechanical properties are compared, and a cohesion zone model is introduced to analysis the failure mechanism of the overlap structure for the cord-rubber composite. The results show that the errors of both real cord model and rebar layer model simulated the limit load of the overlap structure are about 5%. And an interlaminar damage evolution plays a key role in the strength of the overlap structure. Simultaneously, this work can provide a theoretical basis for the design of the cord-rubber composite.
