Abstract

The mechanical behavior of Y2O3-coated Al composites using x-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was studied. It was found that Y2O3 particles were coated homogeneously on the Al2O3 powder by means of a liquid-phase particles coating method. The analysis showed that due to the addition of coated Al2O3 micropowders into Al alloys, the interfacial wettability was improved.
