Abstract
A multispectral thermometry reference temperature model was used to develop a method to measure temperature and emissivity of the hot side of a metallic thermal protection blanket during continuous heating at 900-1300°C. The method assumes that the temperature and emissivity have a similar linear relationships over the spectrum. The true temperature and spectral emissivities can be simultaneously calculated by processing the measured data from the multispectral pyrometer at two different times. The results show that as long as the difference between the initial temperature and the measured target temperature is within ± 200°C, the calculated values of the true temperature and the spectral emissivities are in good agreement with that of the measured targets. The uncertainties are less than 2%.
