Abstract

By using the Z-scan method, the nonlinear circular birefringence of an isotropic chiral medium (the pyridine solution of the polyesterimide) for the left-handed and right-handed circularly polarized light is investigated. The law for the nonlinear optical rotation angle under the low light power is obtained. The relationship between the nonlinear circular birefringence and nonlinear optical rotation is verified.
