Abstract
It is investigated the source of nonlinear optical absorption and refraction of excited-state-nonlinear materials based on the rate-equation theory. The effect of the relative magnitude of cross sections and refrangibilities. Upon the Z-scan curves were discussed through numerical simulation. It is explained the behavior of fullerence-toluence solution in Z-scan experiment, which has a strong nonlinear absorption and weak nonlinear refraction.
