N2 - The purpose of this study is to design and fabricate a liquid-filled progressive multifocal lens, which consists of a solid plate, two elastic membranes and liquid. Through changing the volume of the liquid in the chamber of lens one can continuously change the curvature of the membrane which results in a change of focal length at different place of the lens. Finite element analysis is employed to analyze the surface deformation and the focus due to adjusting of the liquid-filled progressive multifocal lens. Focal adjusting characteristics are measured by using a laser transducer. Experimental results show good agreement with the simulation results of the lens.
