Mass and inertia simulator for docking dynamic test bed

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

A double barbell simulator is proposed to simulate spacecraft's mass and inertia on a new type of ground docking dynamic test bed and to make the ground docking dynamic test equal to the real docking process in space. The configuration and the layout of the barbell simulator are presented, the adjusting method and the parameters of the simulator are made, and the mathematical formulae of the simulator are listed. The test bed can simulate different spacecraft docking dynamic tests by adjusting the simulator. An example is proposed to demonstrate the convenience of the simulator, and the inertia error is less than 0.0051%.
