Abstract

The combination of network planning and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) can efficiently solve the production planning and control problem in single-piece, small-batch production. The key to the composite planning mode was to create the mapping between network and product structure/process routine. The Key Part Network (KPN) and Product Manufacturing Tree (PMT) were put forward to describe the data model of large-piece and complex product in network planning and MRP, respectively. The definition and normalization of KPN and PMT were given firstly, then the mapping rules between them were concluded. Based on the rules, the mapping algorithm to generate KPN from PMT was proposed. Furthermore, a chain-decomposition-based method was also presented, to evaluate the constrained manufacturing time of PMT after KPN was scheduled. Application effect indicated that the definition, mapping rules and algorithms were valid and effective in integrating network planning and MRP.
