MAP decoding of Turbo code in atmospheric optical communication

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Based on the estimated channel state information, a new iterative maximum posterior probability (MAP) decoding algorithm of Turbo coded BPPM is proposed to improve the performance of atmospheric optical communication with long burst error by atmospheric scintillation. And the channel reliability factor and its estimation are presented. Finally, bit error rate of Turbo code with the proposed algorithm is presented and simulated. Compared with the traditional algorithm without estimation of channel state information, the proposed algorithm improves the error performance of Turbo code.
