Magnetic and thermal analysis of a Halbach Permanent Magnet eddy current brake

Abstract

In this paper, the magnetic and thermal analysis of a Halbach PM eddy current brake is carried out. Firstly, the analytical model of the Halbach PM eddy current brake is deduced, and the veracity of the analytical model is verified using the 2D FE magnetic field simulation. Then, the FE magnetic field results are used for the 3D FE thermal simulation to get the temperature distribution of the eddy current brake. Finally, the temperature rise of the parts of the eddy current brake effect on the performance of the Halbach PM eddy current brake is analyzed.
