Abstract
The wave forms of motion of a thin infinite shell of revolution defined by initial displacements and velocities localized in the neighbourhood of a parallel are studied. Using the method developed in [1], a solution of the equations of motion is constructed as a superposition of tangential and flexural wave packets propagating in the direction of the shell axis. As an example, an elongated conical shell is considered.
