Abstract
Ti-based bulk metallic glass (BMG) plates have been successfully welded together by laser welding process. The tensile strength of the welded sample reaches up to 93% of the base material. Based on calculations and numerical simulations, the mechanism of successful welding of the BMG has been discussed in terms of the thermal history of weld fusion zone (WFZ) and heat affected zone (HAZ).
