Abstract

Isolation control analysis is carried out for Kewitte latticed shell in which all horizontal pin supports were replaced by spring supports or damped spring supports. The differences of the vibration modes and the frequencies between uncontrolled and controlled structure are studied by analyzing the isolation mechanism of isolated Kewitte latticed shell. For the isolated Kewitte structure, its maximum horizontal displacement, the maximum horizontal displacement of isolators, the maximum reactions of supports and the structural element axial forces are calculated under the action of frequent earthquakes and rare earthquakes, respectively. The results have indicated that two kinds of the isolation devices can control the reactions of Kewitte latticed shell effectively. Damped spring supports can also reduce the displacements of the isolated supports and the displacements of the isolated shell significantly. Isolation is effective for reducing the vibration of large span shell.
