Abstract

The permanent-magnet (PM) arrangement possesses great influence on the machine performances. In this paper, focusing on the double-stator (DS) inserted-PM (IPM) vernier machines, the effects of the IPM inclination angle are specifically investigated. The variation of the PM inclination angle directly changes the machine flux concentration status, and thus affects the electromagnetic performances. Based on the comparative study of representative machine topologies with PM inclination variation, theoretical conclusions are obtained on the cooperation principle between the PM inclination angle and double stators, and the optimal PM inclination angle for DS-PM vernier machines is obtained.
