Abstract

A novel pulsed 1065 nm Nd:GdLaNbO4 laser using 2D material molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) as saturable absorber was demonstrated for the first time to our best knowledge. The characteristic of 2D MoS2 nanosheet was examined firstly. Then, the continuous wave output power was tested and corresponding intensity distribution and beam quality factors were measured and calculated, respectively. Through adding of MoS2 nanosheet, the obtained shortest pulse duration, highest repetition rate and peak power were 0.59 μs, 112 kHz and 1.90 W, respectively.
