Abstract

In this paper, a novel dual-winding rail eddy current braking system with AC excitation is proposed. First, the structure and the working principle of the braking system are elaborated. Second, the 2-D subdomain model is built to obtain the braking characteristics of the proposed brake. Third, the effects of the slip and the excitation capacitance value on the braking characteristics are analyzed by the 2-D finite-element method (FEM).
