Abstract

In this paper, a novel 2-D Halbach magnet array for magnetically levitated synchronous planar motor is investigated. The magnetic flux density distribution of the novel 2-D Halbach array is solved analytically and validated by the finite element method. Compared with the well-known Halbach magnet array, the proposed magnet array has lower higher harmonic components and higher z-component of the magnetic flux density, which will reduce the force ripples of the magnetically levitated synchronous planar motor.
