Abstract
An investigation has been conducted for hydroforming Y-shaped branch tubes. Failure modes are analyzed such as the transition zone wrinkling and the protrusion bursting. This gives guidance for manufacturing the Y-shaped tubes used in automotive exhaust system. And also a sample of exhaust pipes of automotive engine is assembled in this research. It provided theoretical and experimental fundament for extending the application of internal high pressure forming technology into automotive industry.
