Abstract

Alumina ceramic was brazed in vacuum to mild steel with active brazing filler metal Ag-Cu-Ti3. The interfacial reaction products were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) method. The interfacial phases were analyzed using EDAX. It was shown that the interfacial reactions were complex and the interfacial reaction products were various, including Ti3Cu3O, Ti3Al, TiMn, TiFe2 and TiC etc. The gradual transition structures, alumina ceramic/Ti3Cu3O/Ti3A1 + TiMn + TiFe2 + Ag(s, s) + Cu (s, s)/TiC/mild steel were formed at the interface.
