Abstract

This paper presents a new guidance law based on relative heading error angle (RHEA) for endo-atmospheric interception. RHEA is the angle between the relative velocity vector and the line-of-sight (LOS). Driving it to zero can ensure a head-on engagement. Sliding mode control theory is employed to design this new guidance law. The performance of the proposed guidance law is studied through simulation for different engagement scenarios, and compared with sliding mode guidance law based on LOS rate.
