Abstract

In order to find the main factor influencing the water stability of asphalt mixture and make it possible for the large-scale use of granite aggregate in asphalt pavement, the rheological property of asphalt mastic mixed with different granite powders and different ratios of filler to asphalt was studied using dynamic shear rheometer. The result shows that the interaction capability is different with different granite powders and asphalt. So the compatibility of granite and asphalt should be considered in the choice of materials. A freeze thaw split test was conducted to verify the relationship between the water stability of granite asphalt mixture and the interaction capability of granite and asphalt. It is indicated that there is a good corresponding relationship between the rheological property of asphalt mastic and the water stability of asphalt mixture.
