Abstract

A two-way prestress method synchronizing with welding is proposed, which can control welding deformation of sheet metal and prevent the generation of welding hot cracking. The principle of this method is described and its effectiveness of preventing welding hot cracking of high strength aluminum alloy LY12 sheet and controlling its deformation after welding is researched. Experimental verification is carried out on a self-developed prestress equipment. The results of welding test under two-way prestress show that this new method can effectively control welding deformation of LY12 sheet and prevent welding hot cracking.
