Abstract

In the cases of traditional forming technology, large sheet metal parts of aluminium alloy with the demands of high property and quality in the fields of aviation, aerospace and automobile are hard to be obtained. Based on the various kinds of advantages for electromagnetic forming, some fundamental problems about electromagnetic forming theory and technology for large sheet metal parts of aluminium alloy are solved, such as, the macro deformation behaviours, dynamic responses and microstructure evolution of aluminium during electromagnetic forming of aluminium alloy, the mechanisms for electromagnetic welding of bimetal, and so on. On these bases, a series of electromagnetic forming innovation methods and control technologies are put forward, including electromagnetic incremental forming of large shell parts, electromagnetic incremental forming of large scale sheet parts coupled with electromagnetic blank holder and inertial constraint, electromagnetic local superimposed forming of large skin panels and electromagnetic incremental jointing of long straight bimetal composite pipes.
