Abstract

Five kinds of alloys were melt by adding W, B, and Y elements into the TiAl-based intermetallic compound with high Nb concent. The desultory oxidation behaviors were studied at 900°C in static air for the five alloys. The results of oxidation for 1000 hours show that the addition of 0.1at% Y enhances the oxidation resistance of the alloy greatly and promotes the formation of continuous and compact Al2O3 oxide scale. The addition of W and B into the high-Nb alloy results in the serious internal oxidation of alloy, impairing the oxidation resistance of TiAl.
