Abstract
The effects of impurity and mixing morphology on the radiative properties of Al2O3 particle in solid rocket plume were analyzed. The temperature-dependent effective optical constant of Al2O3 particle containing different volume fractions of carbon was investigated by Bruggeman effective medium theory, and phase transition was considered when temperature was crossing through the melt point. The impact of carbon content on absorption index was especially studied. It was indicated that the value of effective absorption index increased with increasing carbon content. The absorption factor of Al2O3 particle containing carbon was calculated based on Mie theory for different sizes. The results indicated that the value of absorption factor can reach maximum under certain input parameters of size parameter (x=πD/λ) and complex refractive index.
