Abstract
Modern bearings have thin-walled rings that can easily produce elastic structural deformations. Such deformation will induce significant changes on the load distribution of the bearing, thereby significantly affecting the dynamic characteristics and fatigue life. In this study, an improved quasi-dynamic model was established to investigate the influence of the ring deformation on a thin-walled roller bearing in clearance fit with housing. The dynamic performance of the bearing was studied. Results indicated that a small fit clearance between the outer ring and the housing could optimize load distribution, improve lubrication, and extend fatigue life. However, the clearance could not exceed a certain critical value; otherwise, it would have negative influence on load distribution and fatigue life.
